The prison sentence of blogger and journalist Masoud Lavasani has been reduced to 2 years.
He was informed of the reduction of his term of sentence when he had already spent 14 months of his term in Evin prison.
According to a RAHANA reporter, Masoud Lavasani was arrested on September 26th,2009 and taken to Evin prison . He was initially sentenced to eight and a half years incarceration. However court of appeals reduced this to an absolute minimum of six years and a total ban from press activities.
On June 29th, Lavasani was bailed, then once again on December 7th was summoned to prison and taken to ward 350 of Evin prison.
Masoud Lavasani is one of the most active journalists in Iran’s home press and news agencies.
Lavasani has recived the prize of best news reporter from the “Fifth Book and Superior Media Festival“( an annual awards) and at the festival he was also recognized as Iran’s most active journalist in the field of manuscripts.
