Amir Sheibanizadeh Detained for the Fifth Time in One Year

Amir Sheibanizadeh has been detained for the 5th time in the past year in the city of Mashhad.

RAHANA: He had been summoned to the court on Tuesday September 28th and was detained after appearing at the court.

There have been reports that he has been transferred to the Mashhad Vakilabad Prison.

He was first detained after the post-election protests on August 6, 2009 and was released a day after. He was then detained on September 14th when he was inviting people to participate in the Qods day protests. He was released on September 24th after spending 10 days in the solitary confinement unit of the Intelligence Ministry.

He was once again arrested on December 9th for participating in the student day ceremony held in Mashahd Ferdowsi University which was authorized by the university officials. Sheibanizadeh who was arrested illegally for participating in a lawful gathering was released on bail after 2 weeks of solitary confinement.

His last unlawful arrest occurred on January 27th after he was summoned to the Mashhad Revolutionary Court without committing a crime. He was transferred to an unknown detention center in the Mashhad IRGC Intelligence Unit.

He was held in the detention center until February 17th without prison visits and without any information in regards to his location and the reason for his arrest. He was later transferred to the Mashhad Valiabad Prison and release on March 4th.
