Zakaria Abbasifar, journalist and Secretary General of Kermanshah’s Democratic Party was sentenced to 6 months incarceration by Branch 103 of judiciary, charged with “Distressing Public Opinion”.

Journalist and political activist, Zakaria Abbasifar was released last year on a $5000.00 bail after a one month detention in solitary confinement.
According to Kermanshah news, Abbasifar was the head of Mir Hossein Mousavi’s People’s Coalition in Kermanshah during last year’s elections.
He is also considered to be one of the pioneers of the Teacher’s Union of Kermanshah’s demands and has been arrested and interrogated several times.
In the last year many journalists and press activists of this province have been detained and later released on bail awaiting judicial ruling.
