Student activist Peyman Aref was released after his lashing sentence was carried out.

His wife Samira Jamshidi told the Human Rights House of Iran that her husband has been released after his lashing sentence was carried out.

His psychological state is good but he feels excruciating pain in his back where he received lashes.

He was arrested last February and transferred to Ward 350 after spending several days in solitary confinement.

Journalist and student activist, Peyman Aref, had been sentenced to one year in prison and 74 lashes. He was also sentenced to a lifetime ban from journalism and any membership in political parties.
