Blogger Hossein Derakhshan returned to prison after spending time on prison leave for the New Year.
Hossein Derakhshan who is a blogger sentenced to 19.5 years in jail, was allowed prison leave and is now back behind bars. He was allowed out of prison on March 20, 2011 and went back to prison on March 26.
According to Human Rights House of Iran he was again allowed to go on prison leave two days later, on March 28, and then returned to prison on April 3rd.
Hossein Derakhshan is at present serving his 19.5-year sentence behind bars in Evin prison.
Hossein had returned to Iran in October 2008 and was arrested and incarcerated shortly after his arrival on October 10, 2008.
Derakhshan was charged with “co-operating with hostile states”, “propaganda against the regime”,” “insulting the holy” and “creating and overseeing vulgar & obscene websites.” He was sentenced to 19.5 years in prison along with a 5year ban on taking part in any media activities. Presiding Judge Salavati also fined Hossein in the amount of 30,500 Euros, 2,900 Dollars and 200 British Pounds.
