The security forces have prevented the release of Evin prisoners Kianoush Kamrani and Arsalan Abadi and several other detainees.
Some prisoners were granted amnesty by the Supreme Leader on the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution on February 11th. Despite the fact that their families were awaiting their release, the security and Evin authorities have suspended their release because of the February 14th protests.
According to the Human Rights House of Iran, Arsalan Abadi, Kianoush Kamrani and several other lesser known prisoners are among those affected.
Abadi was detained last year during the Ashura protests. Abadi was initially sentenced to 9 years in prison which was later reduced to 6 years by the appeals court. His sentence was reduced to 3 years following the amnesty granted on the religious holiday of Qadir Eid.
Kianoush Kamrani, an economics student in Payameh Nour University, was also detained on last year’s Ashura. His 5 year prison term was later reduced to 2 years.
